The character Captain Beatty, from Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451” lives in a society where books are burned. Being the chief fireman of the society, Captain Beatty has to make sure that all of the books in the society are burned so no one can read the books. The firemen even have a Hound that the society decided on for it. It makes an excellent weapon that can sense which person in the society has books and where the books are hidden. Captain Beatty also acknowledges some of the people as insane because they believe that they can hide their books from the firemen. In Captain Beatty’s eyes, these types of people are going against the rules of the society and need to be taught “brainwashed” that books do not teach people anything. Captain Beatty
