“Who am I?” and “What is my purpose?” have long been questions people ask throughout life that determine their happiness and direct his/her life in general. When this question is posed, I believe this is the point of capture in Fahrenheit 451 to keep a reader wondering if Montag will be able to find his answer. Then, Montag is confronted with the fact that his wife, Mildred, is so miserable she would try to kill herself. The reader then begins to feel sorry for Montag, beginning to cheer him on to find his answers. Another step in the rising action moves to the old lady that would rather kill herself than suffer through life without expanding her mind by reading books. At this point, I became enthralled to want to try and read more of the book because I did not understand how a life without learning through reading could depress a human so much. I believe this to be continued with the fact that Montag wanted to understand why as well, and therefore, the reason he began to keep books. I understand why Montag needed to break free from the miserable life that was instilled upon him to commit murder and break free from a stoic life lead
