Ray Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Leonard Spaulding Bradbury, an electrical expert for power and phone utilities, and Ester Moberg Bradbury, a Swedish foreigner. According to www.biography.com, as a young child, Bradbury had a delightful childhood in Waukegan, where he grew up loving the idea of magic and reading stories that incorporated the genres of adventure and fantasy fiction.
