Clarisse picked up that Montag is not truly happy. She felt that while she was talking to him when she could see his actions. Although not by a lot, Montag’s reactions were different from others in the ideal society. For instance, Montag would look at Clarisse when she was talking and actually take into account her ideas. Therefore, Clarisse concluded that Montag is not truly happy with his position, but Montag has never had the opportunity for him to wonder if he is truly happy or not
