These rights are written in the Constitution of The Unites States of America and every citizen is allowed to argue and live by these practices. In the book, Fahrenheit 451, the main character is forced to burn a bible because they had detected books in this house. Not only do they burn a bible in the book, but they also vandalize a bible. A bible is known as a poison to human race in this world, as it shows this when Montag begins to tear it to pieces. He was caught with books in his house, which is also a crime, and finally breaks down and gives up his attempt to challenge the government. Bradbury portrayed that religion was useless anymore, and challenged our laws when he said, '"Montag's hands picked up the Bible. He saw what his hands had done and he looked surprised. 'Would you like to own this?' Faber said, 'I'd give my right arm.' Montag stood there and waited for the next thing to happen. His hands, by themselves, like two men working together, began to rip the pages from the book. The hands tore the flyleaf and then the first and then the second page"' (Bradbury 41). All citizens have the right to believe what they desire, due to the freedom of thought and religion, they often carry these thoughts into their school with them. In Fahrenheit 451 the author uses many altercations of using the Lord's name in vain. Not only does run the possibility of offending many Christians, but it creates an unsafe environment as people are offended by this language. The article, The Curse of Bad Language, states that "Swearing is more than simply offensive to the ears and sensibilities, however. Not only can words be hurtful to others, a verbal altercation can lead to a physical one". This means that not only can the words possibly offend other students, but it can lead to something worse such as physical fights. The use of profanity in the book encourages students to use this language in their life as well. As kids use this language, words can be heard. As these words are heard, people may take offense to the use of the language which may lead to deeper and more advanced problems within the student body. The book should be banned for this reason, because students should not be encouraged to use this type of language for the reason that there are many students that may not want to hear the language being used.
