Introduction
Partially, the work addresses a case study about Fadi Ghandour, the previous CEO of Aramex and a well known entrepreneur. The core and desirable attributes of a successful entrepreneur developed by Timmons are discussed with regard to Fadi. Additionally, a critical evaluation of any other critical factors in the launch and growth of Aramex are presented. Conclusions about successful launching and growing a new business with regard to Aramex are discussed together with how this learning has impacted my personality as far as entrepreneurship is concerned. His father was called Ali Ghandour, who started working with a national airline in Jordan called Alia in the mid-1960s. This allows one to consider Fadi to have been raised in a family with a high value for entrepreneurship. As a matter of fact, his father rose to become Alia’s chairman. Furthermore, it is worth noting that Fadi spent part of his life in Beirut and the other part in Amman before relocating to the United States for his political science studies at George Washington University. These places gave him substantial exposure, allowing him to have several entrepreneurial ideas. It is after graduating from college that he cofounded Aramex Company together with an American called William Kingston in 1981. He is among the members of the board of directors at Abraaj Capital. He was the chairperson of the Young Presidents Organization between 2003 and 2005, which included Africa Area and the Middle East. He was an important figure when Entrepreneur for Development was founded, which functions as the corporate responsibility initiative in the Middle East. He acts as the chairperson of the board of trustees in the Jordan-based Jordan River Foundation owned by Queen Rania al-Abdullah. His skills have also made him get a job as the chairperson of the National Microfinance Bank. In 2005, he was recognized by an American Journalist, Thomas Friedman in his book.
Fadi Ghandour is still making a mark upon Jordan, the whole of Middle East and the world in general. This makes him a hard-to-forget young and innovative businessman and entrepreneur who has brought a lot of creativity and energy to the Middle East business climate, which was initially found to be state-dominated, patriarchal and sluggish.
