Pluhar, a professor of philosophy at The Pennsylvania State University, gives his opinion on how factory farming is extremely dangerous to the environment, humans health and animals. For those reasons, he concludes alternatives to factory farming. He also states reasons why factory farming should be banned. He starts by mentioning and quoting the investigation completed by Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production and how they concluded that “the current animal food industry is quite simply unacceptable due to its effects on humans, the environment, and animals raised for food”. This shows that factory farming should not be tolerated because of the major impact it has on the world. He then, states the consequences it has on physical health such as how communities next to brooder houses suffer from diseases and pollution and how consumers of meat and vegetables contaminated by animal wastes were killed by E Coli- and Salmonella. His perspective stood out the most when he commented on the Pew Commission and agreed with them when he listed the alternatives and stated why they were a better option than factory farming. This source will be helpful in analyzing the impact of factory and the alternatives to factory farming.
