Many people didn’t expect Donald Trump’s campaign to last very long. Trump is gaining supporters and claiming that he will “make America great again.” His rise to the top could not have been predicted because no one would have expected a businessman to lead the presidential campaign. Many factors go into Trump’s rise to fame. A few factors include that many Americans do not have views that align with a specific party or ideology, many Americans believe that they are losing jobs and opportunities to immigrants, and Trump is saying what many people want to hear. They think that it is okay to exclude an entire race or religion without being racist (Malone). Many of Trumps supporters believe that white people are being treated unfairly and they think that Donald Trump will solve the problems that are causing them to think that they are being treated unfairly. Even though there are many minority groups that are treated much less fairly, Trumps white supporters think that the minority groups are taking their jobs and opportunities. Trumps solution to restrict Muslims from entering the country and building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico helps to secure the vote by the average white American with little education after High School because they often believe that it is those people taking their jobs and causing problems. Trumps supporters are also excited to be able to talk about their own problems rather than the problems of the entire country. Trump is also convincing Americans that America isn’t good enough, and that something significant needs to change. He is attempting to empower people and create a movement among the majority. At some of his recent rallies, there has been a lot of violence between supporters and protesters. Trump is supporting these violent supporters. Trump allowing this violence is also leading to his rise because Americans tend to be quick to argue and fight, especially when they know that they are wrong about what they are fighting for
