Adolescences are a growing population who are reported to have the same amount of stress level as that of adults or higher. Adolescences may develop stressors as they progress through school; from families, family economic status, peers, and social backgrounds. These stressors may affect their lives right now and can create a bigger deficit later on in their adult lives. They are more likely to develop bad habits, mental health, abuse substances, negative thoughts, become aggressive, depress, sad, and have deterring emotional and physical health. Teenagers tend to have a higher level of stress during the school years. Supports from families, peers and educational environment can create a negative toll and disadvantage on their physical and …show more content…
As they are maturing, they have to learn to cope with drastic changes such as life events, hormones changes, gender differentiation, school, dating, etc. The more stresses and problems arise it may become harder for adolescence to find a coping method to deal with their stresses and problems. With the rise of stress levels in the adolescence, it is possible that there may by hormonal changes that occurs from their stress levels and alter their brain development. Changes in their brain development can result in behavioral and emotional consequences (Zastrow & Krist-Ashman, (2013), p. 284). According to Franzoi, hormone changes can influence the characteristic of puberty and the brain, with the adrenal gland located near the kidneys that releases testosterone hormones that attach themselves to receptor sites throughout the brain and influence the neurotransmitter serotonin and dopamine that regulates the mood and excitability (Zastrow & Krist-Ashman, 2013, p. 284). Adolescence boys are likely to experience an increase change in their brain activity then girls, as boys are characterize as more aggressive. Therefore, adolescence that experience more stress and displays personality traits that includes impulsiveness, aggressiveness, withdrawal, antisocial, detachment, poor self-worth and image are at high risk for depression and …show more content…
Since too often parents of adolescence who attempt suicide finally pieces the pieces together after an attempt was already made. Being aware of an adolescence’ needs can help open doors for the adults to intervene and stimulate the emotional development that they adolescence may be displaying. Coping method that adolescence needs to empathize to learn and practice to get them through immediate problems and stress is through self-responsibility or care to find the positive outlook in dealing with their reliefs. They need to learn problem solving skills to help them make goals and plans to move forward into a positive setting rather than negative. As certain significant experiences and life events tend to characterize adolescence and young adult and impact their physical well-being in to adulthood ((Zastrow & Krist-Ashman, (2013), p.287). Adolescence needs to know it is important to express their feelings, vent emotions, and talk about the problem or issue that is creating the stress (Walburg et al.,(2015). Adults, adolescence, peers and teachers needs to know that in order to create change it takes one another to help and be a good sympathizer to make a more lasting change.
