Social Media Should Be Banned In College Essay

College students going through difficult courses do numerous assignments that require the complete attention and focus of the student. However, students are not acknowledging the fact that they do not realize the negative consequences of taking thirty minutes in checking their social media accounts when they could be working on an academic assignment at that time. Jacobsen, and Forste, (2011) their research indicated that there are numerous ways that people can learn such as through recording lectures and also type up notes. However, there are in fact only two main ways that a brain can absorb information.
There are two essential learning sections in the brain. The focused learners are individuals that pay full attention in class and are not easily distracted by their mobile devices. They utilize the hippocampus section of their brain. This part is typically the heart of the memory and the learning part of the brain. Some have resulted into banning social media networks from some of their library computers. Some colleges implemented a system on their library computers where these computers have permanent social media block to Twitter and also Facebook (Madden, 2012). The main reason for the new system is that most of these students that need to conduct research on computers had to wait almost twenty to thirty minutes for a free computer. The colleges noticed that those that had a computer were utilizing it to check their social media profiles. This aggravated many students, and therefore some colleges made an agreement towards having designated computers that still had the internet, however, they were social media free. This meant no access towards Facebook. Such a compromise is highly efficient, and some colleges have adopted this
