Facing Hardships “I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” ~ Carl Gustav Jung (qtd. in “The Churning”). Many people have faced hardships and intense situations and are left with a wonderful story to tell and to learn from. Louis Jordan is one person who has been through a extremely intense situation. According to the Los Angeles Times, Jordan went on a fishing trip of the coast of South Carolina and was not heard from for 66 days. After Jordan’s boat capsized, he was left with a broken mass and all of his electronics damaged. Rationing his food and water, reading the bible cover to cover, and hiding from the sun under a blanket got Jordan through his days of being at sea. Whenever he was almost out of water he would pray to God and ask for rain, and just when his water was empty Jordan’s wish came true. At last, a cargo ship went by and saw Jordan standing up waving his arms, so they picked him up. Jordan was so glad to be rescued and go back home to his family. Louis Jordan is only one of many survivors who have shared their story of surviving extreme circumstances. …show more content…
