The 'Altar of loneliness' symbolize that even though you are connected with your friends, you are going to feel lonely as a result of comparing yourself to them. In lines 7, Alexie says “Let’s exhume, resume, and extend childhood." This line symbolizes that people want to go back to their infancy.
