Being the most widely used social media tool the statistics on Facebook usage are astounding. A 2015 Nielsen survey found that Facebook’s app was the most popular app of 2015, and Facebook 's Messenger app came in third place. A Facebook press release from July of 2016 states that on average for June 2016 Facebook had 1.13 billion daily active users, and 1.03 billion mobile device daily active users. Facebook is the most popular and powerful social media tool of our time because it facilitates easy convenient communication and connection, often between family members over long distances, and it helps people reconnect with friends they have lost contact with. Facebook can enable more frequent communication, and the possibility of more open communication by allowing you to share your thoughts and feelings all while controlling who you share information with. Facebook fosters social connectedness by reminding you of your friends birthdays. You get to know your friends on a deeper through what they share. Facebook fosters connection by allowing you to click a like button on your friends posts which notifies them that you liked what they posted. But if Facebook is reconnecting you with friends and family, and driving you towards engaging in more face-to-face interactions then Facebook is a great tool for social networking. Like Carr warns us, tools help us greatly but they also have the ability to reshape our brains. Don 't let Facebook blindly fool you into thinking that you are fulfilling your social needs, because this rouse will come at a cost of your health and
