During the interview, I noticed that my experience as a manager at Verizon Wireless was a reoccurring topic of discussion and concerns. I know my background with working at a Carrier store will not be the same as working with all three carriers: Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T in the mobile department at Best Buy. I think this is will be an awesome opportunity to work with all three carriers, instead of focusing on just one. I understand that I would be a full-time employee and my duties, as a full time employee will to keep the part-timers in check, the department clean and organized at all times. My experience with Verizon will not affect the other carriers as well because I will not show bias towards Verizon only more knowledge for the customers…

Informational Interview For this assignment, I chose to conduct an informational interview with Claudia Romo, a Career Technical Education (CTE) Counselor at Rio Hondo College. The reason I chose to interview a CTE counselor was to learn more about the CTE Counseling and how different the student-counselor interactions are to general academic counselors. The informational interview provided me with a different lens in viewing community college as I discovered the different counseling objectives CTE counselors have to general counselors. These counseling objectives range from longer counseling sessions, direct employer interactions, job site field trips, and career related workshops.…

For the informational interview I contacted a family friend Rebecca Gray Detling who is an executive sales manager with ICH Global LLC. I first just started off asking Rebecca on what she majored in college, how it prepared her for her job, what courses were the most valuable, and what class she wished she would have taken while in school. While in college Rebecca majored in physical therapy and had a minor in finance because she knew she wanted a future in the business field while helping out people in the medical field. Once out of college though she said that the most valuable class she took was a little of every class because with a career in the medical field, sales, and finance not one class is better than the other but a little of each class was extremely valuable.…

For this assignment, I chose to shadow a health care employee. The organization I visited was Kaiser Permanente. Kaiser has a very interesting history that has guided the HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) to where they are today. Dr. Sidney Garfield provided care for injured and sick workers and while the employees were being taken care of, Dr. Garfield was losing money.…

This interview took place in Dean Vargas’ office. As a first year advisor in the school of engineering, she has been busy in the past month assisting first year students in picking which type of engineering they are most interested in and helping them to plan their schedules for the upcoming year. This meant that she did not have the time to meet somewhere else. If this were not a factor, I would have suggested meeting in a cafe as that would have caused Dean Vargas to view me less as one of her many students and more as an individual woman, coming to her for assistance in navigating the unique set of circumstance women engineers need to navigate. I believe that as a result of holding the meeting in her office and not in a secondary location,…

Introduction: As I started to interview a former inmate from the Florida Department of Corrections about why he had to go prison, and how was his experience of the four in a half years that he was locked up. He said that he will be willing to discuss the living arrangements, the food, other inmates, correctional officers and the bathing experience, just his overall experience of the justice system. In this interview, I learned a lot about how prisoners feel in the justice system. I’ve learned that everything isn’t always what it seems. I learned first-hand other people’s perspective of the inside of the justice system.…
