As a student, I don’t think much about how a brain handles all the information I gather while being in control of every bit of my body. Learning is said by many to be important for young ones as it will help their brains grow and so they won’t fall behind. This is usually said by parents, and their children usually fall behind due to their mindset, not failed attempts in learning. A mindset is what every student has and it shows how they are gaining knowledge or intelligence in classes. Two mindsets are in place in school: a fixed mindset where students are afraid of challenges and going further with learning because they don’t have the ability to become intelligent, and a growth mindset where students believe learning is the key way to gain intelligence and will take on challenges.…

The main contention of the book A Lesson Before Dying is the inequality between white and black people. Throughout the book we see a change in the characters’ attitudes to this situation forced upon them by society. The author’s details suggest the ability to change the world through your beliefs and what you know is true. Jefferson and Grant’s realization helped to spark the country’s awareness to how wrong the oppression the majority of people were giving to African Americans everywhere. Jefferson’s realization that he could die a man and a martyr, Grant’s refusal to be a bystander to the constant racism, and the society’s reaction to victories similar to these helped carry out the civil rights movement that changed America forever.…

I believe that I deserve the “Courage to Grow” Scholarship, because I’m very determined and take my education seriously. Both during college and high school I faced a series of obstacles such as living at a women’s shelter at the age of sixteen, the death of my grandmother and cousin my freshman and sophomore year of college, and attending counseling for emotional abuse and a risk for developing an eating disorder. I overcame each obstacle despite the mental stress. There were rough patches with my grades at the beginning of college, but I worked hard each semester to raise my GPA, and make honor roll. I’m a fist generation college student, and earned my associates in arts from Longview Community College, and will attend the University of…

The first principle is to involve infants and toddlers in things that concern them. In a childcare setting you can put this principle into action for an infant by talking to them when diapering or feeding them. The second principle is to invest in quality time on each individual child and you can put this principle into action in a daycare by focusing on just the one child at that time instead of trying to focus on multiple children. Learning can be interpreted in many ways to different individuals, although to me learning is about gaining knowledge and embracing every experience encountered and linking it to any task. Also I would explain that being open minded is a strong attribute to apply during the learning process. During my week one I stated that learning is to open and broaden an individual’s mind on subjects to gain knowledge or skills, and I’ve grown to realize its more than that. People can learn using different methods and be more responsive to one rather than the other. I am a Strong-Willed learner.…

There are so many reasons people are pro homework. People say “it helps them become smarter or helps them on test,” But there is a lack of evidence where it actually supports their claims, that it helps students at all especially at such a young age. with Alfie Khon “The positive effects of homework are largely mythical.”(Khon). It also seems that homework is being forced onto younger students more often than the older ones. I remember getting tons of homework in Elementary school, and not having the time to play outside, the stress, and my parents struggling to help me on problems I didn’t know.…
