FFA Interview Report

Many experiences in my life have changed my views in multiple ways, but by far the most life changing experience has to be when I was elected Daingerfield District Vice-President for the FFA. This experience has broadened my comfort zone of shyness and unconfidence, and as the FFA Opening Ceremonies say, it brought me “into the glorious sunlight of brotherhood and cooperation.” I finally began to realize after Greenhand Camp, my freshman year, that I might have a potential future in the FFA. With the support of my chapter, friends, family and much devoted prayer, I was able to accomplish my fears and officially announce that I was running for District Officer.

I didn’t really realize what I was getting into at the time, but I talked to my parents and my Ag teachers and they all told me that it would be an amazing opportunity for me to grow as a person, FFA member, and as a leader. I received the written approval from my parents and teachers and all that was left was the test, interview, and speech. The test and interview were scheduled for the same day for all the districts in our area, which includes Daingerfield District, Mineola District, Paris District, and Longview District, plus our Area Officer’s test and interview. That experience was so intimidating, I had no idea who anyone was, my Ag teacher left me because she had to interview other district's candidates, and then my phone died, so it wasn't going very well for me at this point. I went in to take my test and did well. Then went in for the interview and was confident that i did well as well, and now all that was left was to give my speech. I practiced that speech for weeks before the day of the District Convention finally came. I surprisingly kept more or less calm the whole time until it was actually time for me to get on stage and persuade these people, in which I had never met before, to vote for me. But this too was a success

When I first joined FFA, I had no idea of the impact it would have on me. Funnily enough, I originally thought of it just as a stepping stool into become a veterinarian- obviously plans have changed. And although my original goal and reason for joining has changed, I’m grateful that I did join, because FFA has impacted me in more ways than one. It goes beyond other experiences because as far as an educational experience goes, it has taught me a great deal than I ever expected. FFA has gone beyond just teaching me about cows, plants, and farming, it’s taught me business, life and leadership skills.…

Introduction and Overview For several years, the FFA has been thought of by many as the “Future Farmers of America.” While farming may have been the fundamentals of this organization, it has evolved into so much more. Therefore, the idea that FFA is merely a farming organization can be exceedingly misleading to those who have little experience or knowledge of this organization. Contrary to popular belief, FFA’s sole purpose is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their leadership skills, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. The National FFA consists of 649,355 members, from 7,859 chapters in all 50 states.…

I had this interview with a woman named, Pa Vue where we talk about my choice of career path, asking me what I wanted to do in the future. I told her that I wanted to become a nurse with her career of being a pharmacist's she told me about the similarities and differences that would be of help. Her job consists of refilling medications and making sure everything is correct for the customers. She talked about the steps she took to becoming a pharmacist and how important her job is to giving out correct prescriptions for the customers and being fast and efficient with them. She related it to being a nurse because either a doctor or a nurse may prescribe a patient some medications and we have to be correct on giving those out as well.…

If you had asked any of my peers for a description of who I am, they would have said that I was someone who was shy, and possibly even a bit awkward. This was a personality trait that I had been struggling with throughout the majority of my life. I had grown up as an only child, incessantly feeling out of place among my peers. It wasn’t until the middle of my freshman year of high school that I gained the self-confidence I had only dreamed about.…

I believe that the motto “Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon,” is a perfect motto to describe myself as both a person and student. Growing up, I always took pride of my hometown (Vermilion, Ohio). My hometown, paired with the rollercoaster of experiences I endured throughout middle school and high school, made me who I am today. Granted, there were hard times and struggles, but I would not be where I am today had I not grown from those experiences. As I stated in my application, I represented my school and hometown at the 2013 Buckeye Boys Convention.…

I decided that I would take leadership roles throughout high school in order to help serve the less fortunate. KEY Club, a service and fundraising club, became my focus, and I travelled up the ranks to become the school’s external affairs manager and the service committee chair of the Eastern Canada District. As I introduced more extra-curricular activities into my life, organization became more important -- and I was shocked to see how much it helped me save…

For as long as I can remember, going to Texas A&M Colleges Station to become a Veterinarian has been my dream and goal. Having always enjoyed working with animals, small and large, I knew getting working experience would help me to achieve this lifelong goal of mine; I began to volunteer at a Veterinary clinic. It was very exciting working in an environment that I loved, and after a year of on the job learning the doctor hired me as a part-time employee. As time passed and I became closer to my co-workers, realizing not all of them shared the same beliefs or experiences as me. It was difficult at first to learn how to sustain my beliefs while respecting theirs, but I stayed strong and still have the same perspectives and feelings I began with.…

Development- chances are everyone knows at least something about it. Mainly because it is constantly occurring around each and every one of us. Barbara Miller defines development as change that is directed towards the improvement of human welfare (Miller, B., 2013). Yet, not everyone views development in the same context. In fact, when two interviewees, both from the Dickinson College community but with different backgrounds, were asked about what development meant to them, the results showed a collection of similar and conflicting views.…

“Proud traditions, sparking ambitions.” That was the saying for FFA this past year. While that 4-word phrase may seem just like a catchy phrase or a good theme to have, when we take a step back and examine those 4 words, we realize that it has been vivid throughout our history, in FFA, 4-H, agriculture, and throughout the world. People throughout our history, even though they may not realize it, have been running with this idea. This phrase has been summing up the actions of some of our greatest leaders and helping people change the world every day.…
