Personal Reflection: Early Childhood Education

Improved Essays
At the beginning of the semester I was nervous about FEEP because I didn’t know if I was making the right decision about going into early childhood education. I enjoyed my education classes, but FEEP was my first experience inside the classroom. I was place in Sherman Elementary in a kindergarten class. The first day I was really nervous because I didn’t know if I was going to like Sherman or being in a kindergarten class. After the first week of class I wasn’t nervous anymore and was excited about the semester. I really enjoyed being at Sherman Elementary because it was my first time being in an intercity school. I learned about the students and how their home life positively and negatively affects their school life and education. I built a great relationship with my cooperating professional and the students in the class. I had a lot of fun, but learn a lot this semester. I saw and learned a lot of things I would like to bring into my classroom someday.
One thing I want to incorporate into my future professional practice that I learned from my FEEP experience is the visual posters/signs that correlate with a song. Mrs. Zellner always had a song to go with the material they were learning. The students we always engaged with what they were learning. When the students were doing busy work at their desk and

I feel that I am fortunate enough in my FEEP experience so far that I have had no negative experiences and would be will to try everything I’ve learned so far. I like how Mrs. Zellner has the learning carpet and centers. The centers are different every day keeping the students interested in what they are doing. Mrs. Zellner always has a letter and word of the week. During that week the students focus on that letter or word. Mrs. Zellner creates a positive learning environment for her

The desks in the classrooms were set up for collaborative learning which seemed to really work for her students. Mrs. Gaither also did great job in teaching with all the different learning styles so that she could reach each student’s preference. After each assignment, Mrs. Gaither went around to each individual student and went over their answers with the student. Based on what answers they got wrong is where she would focus more attention. I found this style of teacher very helpful to each student because it wasn’t just as a whole.…

Throughout the Capstone Project, I have learned that college is expensive and being an Early Childhood Educator might be something I really want to be. It would be better for me to go to a two-year technical school, and then transfer to a four-year college. This process would allow me to save money so that I will not be paying student loans for many years. I have learned what it takes to become a teacher, and I am highly interested. The characteristics a teacher must have are patience, self-control, creativity, and leadership skills.…

My field work experience had started in the preschool and where I have done the majority of my observations thus far. In the preschool I was beginning to understand how the different of components of the preschool all had concepts of phycology through all aspects of the classroom. During my time I saw how Piaget’s stages of cognitive development, how students handled new information through various methods, and Vygotsky’s sociocultural perspective are incorporated through different sections of the classroom. The classroom was based that learning should not be a structured experience, but learning should be developed through play and exploration.…

From home-sickness to struggling being a freshman that is a junior in credit hours, I began to understand what molded them to be who they are, and the unique difficulties each one of them faced. From there I was able to take note of what I could during the FIG session to ease their frustrations, such as introducing session dedicated to studying and learning how to do so efficiently, as well as low intensity activities. However, through my one-on-one meetings, I also discovered that the entire time I felt that I was not doing enough for my students, many were actually grateful for what I have done for them. Some conveyed that the session allowed them to relax during stressful weeks and that they were able to apply many of the lessons learned from various presentations presented. Others were just grateful that I was available to talk to them one on one or provide personal advice in other to grow and become better students.…

Focused observation reflection: The early childhood education, utilize their skills of observation on a continual basis. A good educator will recognize that regular observation can enhance their own teaching abilities and ultimately will have a positive impact in children they support. We don’t need to wait until there is a concern or problem in the program to being the process of observation. Systematic observations made by sensitive and knowledgeable educators are more powerful than any other technique in determining a child’s strengths and needs; knowing what to observe and recording the information for later reference is critical to good observation, often observations can be done unobtrusively in the child’s classroom setting as…

Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

Philosophy Statement I have chosen to work in this field because I believe that early school years are the most significant in a child’s life as they lay the foundation for future education. True education is one that brings out the person’s potential. Education should encompass the whole child—intellectual, social, emotional and physical aspects of his/her being. Being a preschool teacher involves a true love for the career and working with children. "…

On the last day of my first placement, I felt for the first time what it is like to get through to a child with some difficulties paying attention and completing tasks, I saw what it was like to feel the accomplishments of being a teacher. For my first placement I went to Valley View Elementary, and was placed in a first grade class with Ms. Stehle and a fourth grade class with Mrs. Testolin. I loved both classes I was placed in because they were both very welcoming. Reflective Practice in Professional Development of Early Childhood Educators Based on my personal own observations, Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers usually go through many professional developmental stages. Accordingly, the level of ECE competency for each of these professional developmental stages depends on mastery of teaching techniques, choice of appropriate learning tools, and implementation of effective educational methods or frameworks. Therefore, ECE teachers can progressively move through a cycle of professional developmental stages through a series of self-assessments, which are guided by the principles of proven effective teaching practices endorsed by community of educators or required by educational institutions.…

Early years of childhood have widely been recognised as the most important years of learning and development. “Research have shown the importance of these years to learn and acquire new skills” (DEECD, 2010), which have assigned a great responsibility to the educators working with the young children. As an early childhood educator, I feel that it is my responsibility to provide the high quality learning environment for the young children to learn, acquire and develop social, emotional, academic and technological skills. The following paper contains my philosophy statement, which includes my values and professional knowledge in relation to children, teaching and learning in early childhood education. Connor defines philosophy as “it can be used…
