FEED Project Book Report

There are a lot of stories mentioned in the book about the reality that there are people that needs our help and stories about people doing something to attend to those needs. These stories somehow reached and touched my heart just like the story of Lauren Bush. She started a social enterprise with a similar business model as of the TOMS shoes. The main mission of her business is to be able to provide a meal for students because she had the opportunity to see firsthand the effects of malnutrition and hunger on the world. She was a model and a volunteer and through this she had been able to travel and see the problem on malnutrition and poverty. The company that she started was called FEED Project and its concept is about “eco-friendly bag that would guarantee a child in a developing country a free year of school lunches for every …show more content…
She asked the little girl what she wants to be when she grows up and sometimes it is scary to hear their response because their answers could be sad but this little girl responded differently. The little girl, who was now attending school and been receiving free lunch from the FEED Project, replied that she wanted to become the president of Rwanda. The little girl was confident and happy. When I read about this story, my heart melted because it showed how great an impact was made to that child with the free lunches that was given to them by the FEED Project. Running a social enterprise is more than just the money because what is important is how you are able to change the lives of the people and transform them into someone that is full of hope and would dream again. It is the response and the impact that you give to those people that will give you a feeling of fulfillment and happiness and that is when you realize that you must be doing something right. I particularly liked this story from the book because I felt happy knowing that that child was able to dream again and be able to dream
