Mid-Term Self Evaluation

FASN 2100 has introduced me to a new way of thinking. The assignments have pushed me further into learning to design towards a specific target market. I have learned that it is difficult to start a brand as it takes a lot of research to understand the lifestyle of the target market. It is important to consider all aspects of the customer and/or consumer. Process is key in creating a good assignment, clothing line, or brand. I have been presented with new resources and learned to share ideas with my classmates and instructors. I am keeping an open mind to all suggestions and tips so that I can get as much experience as possible.

I share feedback with other classmates as they may benefit from it as well. I also try to post new resources on our Facebook group when possible. I know leadership is an important part in our industry. I have tried my best to help my first year BFF’s (Best Fashion Friends) by offering them tips, advice, or showing my past assignments. I am open to them asking me about any questions and I will greet them happily in the hallway. Another leadership I have been constantly doing outside of school is with sea scouts. Every week I attend Sea Scout meetings on Friday nights. It’s been 7 years since when I first joined. I prepare lessons, activities, games, songs, and send out weekly emails for the youth in my group. I am in charge of the Cub Section and sometimes it gives me a lot of pressure knowing that I need to leave time throughout the week for me to prepare. It's hard trying to manage my own time while making sure I leave enough time for other people to respond to me. I work with parents, youth, and other leaders weekly; it is great because I get a chance to communicate with people of all ages. The age range is so wide, and I don’t think I would be able to experience such variety anywhere else. It’s especially hard when I have projects due, as I need to manage my time well. Scouting has been a big part of me; I have learned to think ahead to make sure things run quickly and smoothly, and I have learned that I need to be aware of everything that is happening around me. I try to respond quickly to others, as time can be very valuable. I work at Pfaff and Nicole Bridger ‘on call’ when they may need an extra employee. Working forces me to talk to strangers and customers since I’m not much of

National Honor Society Application Essay For any human to exhibit qualities throughout their lifestyle, one must transcend in certain aspects of their nature. Everyone is born with a different character or personality and not everyone exceeds in all of the same categories, however; I would place myself among the four characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and outstanding character as some of the qualities where I excel. I have always been a very studious person, and I take pride in my achievements in the classroom. I was also raised to believe that my best is an A, so when I got my first B it was not something taken lightly. I try to remember that if you put your mind to something, then you can accomplish it, which reminds me of the quote by Mike Farrell, “If you try to do your best there is no failure.”…

One way I plan to demonstrate leadership and service is through volunteering to be a sixth grade camp counselor. I remember my Link Crew leaders during my freshman year and they were very helpful and informative. We had taken the kids to the Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC because the place we were going to go had been closed down. It was organized chaos and the kids were wanting to run around the place but we had to remember that everyone was suppose to be back at the bus by 3:30 pm. The time went by and and my partner lost track of time so I had to stand up and tell her that we had to go so that we would not get yelled at.…

These include renovating the art display case in the vocational building to represent our school’s eagle creed, attending lessons every weekend which indoctrinate leadership skills for students, and joining several extracurricular activities within the school. I can still remember the day when my parents told me the phrase, “You are a leader, not a follower.” It was in kindergarden right after I told them about a few girls who were making fun of a friend of fine, and I decided to stop them and defend her. When my parents told me that phrase, it definitely stuck with me throughout my life. I think that’s a phase most kids hear time to time in their childhood. It’s that phrase that makes you question, what it a leader?…
