FAS 160 Case Summary

Decent Essays
As you mentioned the FASB is careful each time it implements a new standard. According to the FASB one of the most important factor when considering FAS 160 was the nature and classification of noncontrolling interests (NCI). For example, parent and minority interests are not distinguished in a subsidiary’s financial statements. Both are owners of the subsidiary and have an interest in the total amount of the subsidiary’s income and net assets. The main issue is the reporting of each interest in the consolidated financial statements. In deciding a suitable conclusion for the accounting of noncontrolling interest, FASB acknowledged “… that a noncontrolling interest represents the residual interest in the net asset of a subsidiary within

Our clients related that Grey Hoffman had significant heart issues before moving into the house that required two prior surgeries. Apparently, Ms. Nathan-Nenn has a challenging relationship with her ex-husband, who is also Grey’s father, and had expressed to the insureds several times that she was concerned that she would lose her two weekends a month visitation with Grey if it appeared that she was not providing him with proper care. The insureds felt that as a result, Ms. Nathan-Nenn may be looking to place blame on them for Grey’s alleged continued difficulties. Finally, it is important to note that the parties renewed the lease on June 4, 2014, subsequent to the plaintiffs’ initial complaints relating to the premises and surrendered possession of the premise on October 3, 2014.…

    1520 Sedgwick Case Summary

The legal process of gentrification is potentially one of the more easily argued cases, especially in a country that prides itself on its free market. Using 1520 Sedgwick as an example as well I will compare how the ideals of a free market economy would effect it with the realities of the situation. First of all, if the US was a true free market economy 1520 Sedgwick would never have been enrolled in the Mitchell-Lama program because such a system wouldn’t exist unless the government owned the property, which also would be contrary to a free market system. Following the fact that these programs do exist and the government does play a role in the economy, including real estate, we have to conclude that the government has to assume at least some sense of responsibility for the citizens enrolled in the Mitchell-Lama program. However, this does not just include the residents of 1520 Sedgwick, but the owners as well, for the government entered into an agreement with them as well.…

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is the world’s largest representation of certified public accountants (CPAs). Established in 1887, the AIPCA serves as an advocate for CPAs, CGMAs, and has a mission of powering the success of global business, CPAs, and CGMAs through the use of education, resources, and advocacy (AICPA, 2016). The AICPA supports FASB by providing technical support, standard setting, and guidelines to CPAs nationwide. Because accounting is complex in nature this governing body works in collaboration with other institutes to ensure that organizations are adhering to the accounting standards established under the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This paper will focus primarily on the AICPAs relationship in advising the FASB, their function in setting the auditing standards for public accounting firms and their relationship with authoritative rule making boards such as The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), The Government Accounting Standards Board, and the HFMA Principles and Practice Board.…
