The Great Gatsby is a book of metaphors, and similes. The author expresses feelings and emotion with colors, time, weather, and sometimes the place where events are taking place. Normally you wouldn’t think of colors being used as a way to symbolize something, but F. Scott Fitzgerald used colors very well in the book to show different emotions, and to describe characters.
