Does Ezra Miller’s mental health justify his history of crime and physical violence? Ezra Miller has worked up a notorious reputation in international media with the recent allegations and incidents surrounding them. From physical altercations to threats to child abuse, many researchers and psychologists speculate on the reasoning behind his actions and what could have potentially fueled him. These incidents of assault and harassment can be explained by Miller’s declining mental health, with the actor admitting that they were seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues” after recently going through a time of intense crisis.

One of these fans, a woman who was victim to Miller’s assault, recollects how the incident started when she asked about how Miller got visible wounds on their feet, the actor revealing that it was from a fight. According to the woman, they joked about who could take the other in the fight. However, Miller did not see it as a joke at the time and approached the woman outside the bar. Upon the woman’s friends pulling Miller off of the fan, a bartender intervened and tried to restrain the actor, who proceeded to spit in his face several times before shoving Ezra out the door. Upon another article by People news, the woman recounts two years after the incident that their friend egged on the actor by claiming that [Ezra] didn’t want to fight, which prompted his rash actions against her in the ensuing altercation. Ezra Miller came from a pair of normal parents, born in Wyckoff, New Jersey. On his Wikipedia, he is identified as an ‘American actor of Jewish descent.’ In particular, his Jewish descent sheds light on his aggression towards others, potentially not wanting to be seen as weak or inferior. Throughout history, the Jews have suffered discrimination from majorital parties, from the Shakespearian era (William Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice” depicts a Jewish character which would reflect how Jews were viewed during that era..) to the early 20th century. Alternatively, Ezra, being of American descent, can also explain his need to display his dominance over others in both instances. When his authority was challenged, he often met the people who challenged him with brute force, whether or not they were simply messing with him. In such a case as Hawaii, whose lands were annexed by the United States (“Annexation of Hawaii”, U.S Department of State) following the Spanish-American war, the United States had to maintain its dominance by enforcing its power upon the weakening territories near it.
