¨It’s the (eye) of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight, risin up to the challenge of our rival." "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor is my theme song. I think this song represents some of the struggles that I have had to go through: in school, at home, and in my social life in the last couple of months. It reminds me that I need to keep going if I want to succeed and make something of myself in the future. “Eye of the Tiger” was written and performed by the American rock band Survivor. The song was originally written for the movie Rocky 3, but the song’s writer Jim Peterik says that it grown into something motivational. With all of the essays, vocab, and grammar tests, it has been a lot to deal with. I didn't know if I could do it at first. It is even harder when you are playing sports and having to come home after 3-4 hour of practice to do 1-2 hours of homework. It is also hard because my classes have become more demanding. I am working to keep up, but sometimes it doesn't always work out. That is when I start to listen to this song. It has such a great motivational aspect to it. If I wasn’t hungry for life and what this world has to offer, then I would just roll over and give up. The words "hangin’ tough" remind me that I have the determination to go on, even in trying times. "Just a man and his will to survive" is a line that characterizes me in full. I believe that I have the will to survive from whatever life has to throw at me. I believe that I have proven to myself time and time again in the last couple of months that I have what it takes to (“survive”). Though I have done my share of complaining about school, I have never refused to do what is asked of me. Working hard in school, playing sports, and doing more homework than I have ever done has made me a better and stronger person. I now know if I try my best, and put in the time and effort, I can accomplish anything.
In conclusion, Eye of the Tiger is a song that I can constantly go back to in order to find encouragement and support. It is something that will always make me feel better and find the strength to carry on. It will always motivate me to finish what I started and to never give up. It is so much more than a song and that's why so many people love it. You can go to it when you're sad, happy, or even somewhere in between. “Eye of the Tiger” is my theme song because it is always there for me and helps me to finish

In the book Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua, Chua pushes the limits of her daughters’ happiness in order for them to be successful. Many people believe that because of this, she is risking their happiness. I, on the other hand, personally believe that Chua is raising her children without much risk. In the book, Chua tells us a story about how Lulu and Sophia made her birthday cards that were unsatisfactory and how she forced them to make better ones. She further explains, “I gave the card back to Lulu.…

Draper supports her claim by illustrating the life of Andy Jackson, the protagonist, with his friends B.J and Tyrone who witnessed a traumatic and horrendous accident in which Andy’s best friend Robert Washington dies, this affected everyone in different ways. Andy was the most accountable for the accident due to the fact that he was the one behind the steering wheel the night of the accident; this caused him to feel extremely guilty and sorrowful about Robert’s death, which lead to his own suicide. Contemporary rock band Imagine Dragons sang the line “It’s a revolution, I suppose…” in their Grammy Award-winning song “Radioactive”. Surprisingly, Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson, the main character in the book The Titan’s Curse, can relate to this line, as well as the rest of the song. Although The Titan’s Curse is a fiction book based on Ancient Greek Mythology, it shares the same theme with Radioactive, a popular rock song. Both pieces of literature show the reader that you can you can overcome your obstacles if you are willing to do it. However, Riordan uses metaphors to convey this theme, while Imagine Dragons uses imagery to represent the same thing.…

Activity 3.1-Chronicling Convict Transportation in Song Primarily in the late 18th century Britain began to drift from public executions and adopted a new form of punishment most commonly known as transportation and or imprisonment. This method emulated the out of sight out of mind philosophy that sent thousands of convicted criminals for a wide array of crimes to Britain colonies, such as Australia. This change evaluated the criminal justice system methodology of punishing subordinates and adopted psychological hardship over physical pain and torture. Both imprisonment and transportation stripped criminals of their rights, their independence, their family, friends, and congregated all criminals into one densely populated area.…

The iconic 80’s song “Eye of the Tiger” by the band Survivor pairs well with Mark Watney’s powerful will to survive in the earlier days of his very long stay on Mars. Watney, barely alive, and believed to be dead by his crewmates he was left alone on the barren planet of Mars. Even worse, if one thing is out of place or suddenly breaks, he’s a goner. In chapter 2, through this hardship however, our protagonist brings himself to smile and crack jokes just like it was another leisurely day, however he is still utterly aware of his situation and he knows what he needs to do. The main lyrics of the song say, “It’s the eye of the tiger”.…

I started attending Lone star college right after high school, at first, I began with the typical high school graduate state of mind, which was that college was going to be a breeze and that it would all be fun and games; more worried about what was going on in my social life rather than studying the books. Especially since I had no real responsibilities to handle or much life experience. Around my first year of college, I started dating this girl and not long after we conceived our first son. Once this happened, my focus slowly shifted from school to working a full-time job at a welding shop in order to provide for my family. I still tried to attend class but was unable to find the balance between work, school and family and this reflected my grades.…
