Extraterrestrials: The Existence Of Aliens

Improved Essays
The Earth is an ordinary planet speeding around an average star. Nothing at all is remarkable about it, except for the fact that it harbors life. Though millions of other planets with similar conditions to Earth exist, scientists have yet to find another planet occupied by any sort of intelligent beings. This led Enrico Fermi to pose the question, “Where is everybody?” (Fermi) Perhaps, the answer to this questions is that extraterrestrials exist, but simply undetected. Assuming that life developed other planets similarly to the way that it arose on Earth, the aliens may look similar to us, although this is highly unlikely; other beings would most likably look completely different due to their environment and their time in existence. …show more content…
The human race, for example, may not have the ability to detect their messages. Organizations, such as SETI, tend to only look for radio transmissions; aliens could, however, be sending their messages in much more complex forms, like lasers. The extra-terrestrial beings may also know that humans are a relatively young species; therefore, they are delaying contact with Earth to protect the humans. The aliens may know that mass panic would erupt if contact was made; because of this, the aliens may be waiting to establish contact with Earth after the human race is at a similar level to them. …show more content…
This paradox has been so named because of the protocol that SETI follows. This organization limits the signal it transmits; SETI is waiting until the extra-terrestrials signal us. If every advanced civilization is abiding by the same rules as SETI, no signals will be available for detection because everyone is listening and no one is transmitting. This could be a possible reason humans have yet to make contact with advanced civilizations not of Earth. (11) Another theory is that extra-terrestrials are on Earth, but they are unacknowledged. For example, some theorists believe that the government is blocking signals or suppressing publications. Another concept is that SETI and other, similar organizations are not reporting positive detections or only reporting them to very prestigious officials. These beliefs are shared by many science fiction authors and conspiracy theorists.

For years, people have stated that they have had encounters with the paranormal, but their story usually goes untold nationally. With the Montana UFO story, it was covered up by the media/government and only came to public awareness years later. This is the case with nearly all related incidents (since they are seen as threats to national security). The text includes an exert on the Malmstrom Air Force Base in which records of UFOs were noted. The Air Force did not believe the UFOs were helicopters despite what the media suggested; whatever it was, it remained unidentified, which is why it considered a UFO.…

What goes on in Area 51 has long been a mystery. People have always been curious as to what goes on beyond the high levels of security and in the depths of the actual buildings. Although Area 51 keeps everything they do a secret, they do, in fact, have extraterrestrial findings that they keep in possession without the world’s knowledge. There are two locations of Area 51; the first one is located in the Nevada desert within reach of Groom Lake, which is a lake that overtime has dried out. It is not officially confirmed that this site exists, because although you can see it from satellites such as Google Maps, you cannot find it on any government maps.…

Aliens have been in a part of popular culture since the 19th century, H. G. Wells War of the Worlds being a prime example. It wasn’t until the discovery of a metallic disk by a factory foreman in the town of Roswell in 1947 that the ball that is alien conspiracy theories started rolling. Although the idea of an alien space craft was later refuted by the government, claiming instead it was a top secret spy balloon, this did not stop certain individuals from claiming that this was more than top secret spy equipment, but a conspiracy by the government to cover-up the extraterrestrials…

If they wanted to communicate with us they would’ve at least tried to at some point. Instead they did their very best to keep themselves hidden for hundreds of years while the modern world devoured their forests. We should do our best to help them stay detached from the modern world instead of trespass on their land to sweep them out of the jungle into an unknown…

Although the benefits might be rewarding, given the past interactions of different countries, races, and nationalities, I do not believe Earth is able to handle the differences of an alien species. Furthermore, in popular culture, entertainment outlets, such as novels, television, and films, have portrayed alien species as vastly different from human species. In more cases, the alien species ravages Earth in search of resources. This portrayal of aliens is often based on the own human ability to take advantage of weaker, and vastly different civilizations. Furthermore, when asked to imagine aliens, people typically conjure up an image of a green figure, with a bulbous head, and black eyeballs.…
