Both the external and the internal conflicts. Truman faces external conflict with the society, which is the ‘fake’ Seahaven and the director of the show. The conflict between Truman and his society is also the main conflict in the story. Truman continuously tries to go out of his society, but the society and the director do not let him go out and use various obstacles to stop him. Truman also has an internal conflict that he suspects his own identity. Since he lived in the fake Hollywood studio for his entire life, when he discovers everything is fake, he confuses with his identity; his parents, his wife, and everything around him. As the movie already told audience that it is a reality television program, when there’s scene where people watch the show, I could also feel that I was watching the show. Another thing would be the changes of the film quality. Since the background of the movie is mid 20th century, video quality on the television shown on the movie was low but scenes that are taken inside the show have higher quality. It can be my personal opinion but I think the Seahaven studio seems little artificial which is suitable to the story very well. Since Seahaven is fake a society, by looking at artificial studio, I could easily distinguish the reality and fake society in the movie, even the water and soil seem fake. I’m not sure it was like that because of the lack of skill when the movie was released, but the low quality of the set helps me to understand the story much
