This family is a simple Caucasian family with dark blonde hair and blue eyes. This appearance seems to be the trademark in the family. While talking with the mother, she sadly didn’t know too much about her ethnicity. She stated that a large part of her ancestors were from Ireland. They talked about how they celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a big get together with close family, green beer, and good food. The knowledge known of the father’s side is that he is of German heritage. Their extended family is also a very simple family, and there are no different racial groups that are in this family. Social class shapes educational attainment, income, and occupation (Wright & Leahey, 2013). The family has a middle-class income with a beautiful house in a safe neighborhood. The parents both have jobs that bring home the income. They consider themselves as upper-middle class socioeconomic status. The father brings home a large majority of the family income, while the mother works part time but still brings in her share. Every time we visited the family there was something going on. The mother said that there is never a dull moment in the household. They have dinner at a family members house at least once a week, the children have sports games at least twice a week, the rest of the time is spent on homework or other activities. Their environment is a big part of who they are.
Functional Assessment The functional assessment of this paper is all about how the family behaves with one another. This section incorporates two different components which are instrumental functioning and developmental functioning (Wright & Leahey, 2013). These two different mechanisms will provide information on the day to day lives of the family and also the emotional bonds between each other.
