Extend My Life Story

Decent Essays
For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed drawing and writing. Something about the way I can express myself through words and pictures interested me. As I began to get older I began to see my life as a story. There is a beginning, middle, and end that I had total control to create. Throughout my journey I have been able to use my ability as an artist and writer to view and understand my community.
Extend my life story.? In the beginning, my passion for art developed at a young age. By the time I was five, I would draw and scribble words nonstop. I would come home everyday after school and quickly pick up a pencil and pad. It eventually became a habit for me to draw and write about countless cartoon characters. My imagination was

One of the earliest memory I have as a child was seeing Beauty and the Beast for the first time. That, for whatever reason, enchanted me. It was then I decided that I wanted to be an artist in some way, shape or form. I originally wanted to be a Disney animator because my affinity for drawing. I remember that I would recreate Glen Keane's animation in "The Little Mermaid" and I would, as hard as possible, to imitate his and many of the Disney artists' drawing styles.…

“So now I always tell my students about the Gulf-Stream: that what it means for us, for writers, is that we need to align ourselves with the river of the story” Bird by Bird Anne Lamott. This quote stuck out to me when I first read it, mainly because I am not usually a fan of poetic metaphors. However this is so cohesive it does not just seem as if it is a filler but it adds to the piece. Illustrating her thoughts in a vivid way and drawing a conclusion to her lengthy anecdote, it brings a deeper meaning to an almost unconnected story. The connection to writing and real world events is very important to further our understanding of our individual writing as well as how it can connect from paper to day to day life.…

Everyone knows the YMCA song, but everyone doesn’t have the same connection to it that I do. This building never contained one life changing event for me, but it has been a pivotal place in my life. A place I’ve referred to as home many times, the YMCA has shaped who I am as a man. This pivotal spot is where I suffered my first traumatic injury, changing how I do things for the rest of my life; but also was the place I went to when coping with family incidents. This institution, in particular the basketball gym, helped me find myself, changing my life forever.…

An abundance of people appreciate the arts, whether it be the performing, visual or theatrical areas, on the other hand, I love them. My passion being the visual arts. Instead of writing and spelling at five years old, I was drawing, painting mixing colors and forming shapes not realizing the capableness of my techniques for such a young aged child. Because drawing was the only thing I fancied, every one figured it was “a phase I was going through and would grow out of it”. It never happened.…

My favorite author as a child had to be Richelle Mead and, later, Edgar Allen Poe. Reading their work has inspired my writing style. Being sucked into their worlds, seeing what they saw, filled a desire deep within myself. I craved to have a book of my own, to create a character and live through them, and escape from my own reality for awhile. I’ve written many stories so far, and I’ve produced a film called “Donut Druggies”,…

REALIZATION “Chicago,” I said, as we drove past the Chicago Theatre. I remember reading every word that my eyes could catch as we careened down the picturesque streets of downtown Chicago. I was not certain where my driver was taking me at the time, but I knew that I did not want to be in the car with that callous, old woman anymore. She was my caseworker, Ms. Jordan, and she was in charge of finding me a family. My preferred caseworker was Ms. Kelly, she was pleasant and she always made me feel important.…

2014 and 2015 were my fleeting lifespan's worst years. No major, life-or-death events happened. I just have felt so very alone even amongst friends and family. I can't bring myself to talk to anyone about what I'm feeling, this whole bundle of negative emotions constantly accumulating inside me. Talking to people about what I feel just makes me feel selfish, knowing how others are suffering more so.…

Throughout my life, I have grown to idealize the realm of storytelling. Fictional worlds and their inhabitants have interested me more than the subjects of math or history. It's funny because I have those memories saved till today. Later, in high school I took a creative writing class I'm far from being a good writer, but I love how someone could tell their own story through their own words and make someone else feel what they are feeling or what they felt. I appreciate writing and I consider it a form of art for example music. I don't write music but I love listening to music and having a singer say a deep line or verse in a song and I am able to relate.…
