Expressive language is one of the best ways to determine if a child could have Autism or another disorder that falls under the Autism Spectrum. Although a child may be able to score in the average range for language on paper, their expressive language may be below average and help to diagnose the child. Things that would be assessed would be the use of receptive and expressive language, non-verbal behaviors such as eye contact and body language, and turn taking.
