An explanatory study considers under researched phenomena’s (Hesse-Biber, 2017). Researchers studied safe injection sites because discoveries could be used to help address the rise in drug abuse. The data was directly gathered from the population in consideration (Hesse-Biber, 2017). The study evaluated the strengths and limitations of supervised injection sites. Supervised injection sites were determined to be safer and decreased the chances of reusing needles. The negatives considered were also considered such as the societies attitudes toward supervised injection sites. Implementing explanatory methods allowed researchers to use interviews in hopes of finding similarities of peer perceptions (Hesse-Biber, 2017). Qualitative studies have to focus on ethical concerns especially when live participants are used for a study. I believe that the researchers did consider all the possible outcomes of the study and paid particular attention to drug users and their attitudes toward the study.
