Nadia Khriste Song Analysis

For My Choice, I was debating between a few different songs and artists. For the assignment, I have chosen the songs Heroes Tonight and Aurora both that are by Janji and Something just like this by Nadia Khristean. Other songs I had considered were Waving through a Window by Ben Platt, or Walk on Water by Thirty Seconds to Mars. Walk on water is more directed towards the population as a whole and how we want to accomplish things that seem impossible but not for the sake of love. Waving through a window comes from the musical Broadway Dear Evan Hansen. The song is more about friendship and loneliness which is quite the opposite of love but he does show the love which makes him eligible to keep moving forward and not look back. The song Heroes Tonight by Janji. I picked it because Janji writes that He has been flying from ‘town to town, from London to Taiwan’ as he is just ‘Trying to protect your soul.’ I feel the song represents love because the male is always wanting to protect his princess or his girl. It is proven that he will do what it takes to do just that. Janji also repeats the lines ‘flying from town to town’ constantly through the …show more content…
Nadia’s Videos are highly based off of those people that need our help in the world. Anything from rising from addiction, hunger, or human trafficking. The song talks about the same concept of Heroes tonight and that you don’t have to have a cape to be a hero to someone. All you need to do is to be there when they need your help. Love is a complex thing in the 21st century because our generation likes to make things complicated and waste a massive amount of time. In the 17th and 19th century the poems gave talked about how they just went for it and was open about there true feels. Compared to today's society we are taught to bounce around the truth and make it a guessing game of who loves who but don’t let the person know that you love

Für Elise by Beethoven is the song that expresses who I am. When I started playing piano, I got frustrated that most of my family had a natural talent while I didn't. My father talked to me and gave me one of the most important lessons of my life: "Practice makes perfection, if you want something, insist until you get it". After playing piano as a hobby, at age 17 I decided to take my skills to the next level by taking piano lessons at college and I challenged myself to first learn how to play Für Elise. It wasn't easy, but practice made perfection.…

I choose the songs “Walkin’ After Midnight” by Patsy Cline (1957), “Darkest Valley” by Group 1 Crew (2012), and “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” by Relient K (2004). I choose these three pieces because they are all something that I listen to regularly and they demonstrate a variety of styles in music. Patsy Cline was an iconic female country singer that won awards at the Deejay Convention, won Billboard’s “Most Promising Country & Western Female Artist,” and Music Vendor’s “Greatest Achievement in Records” all just for “Walking After Midnight” (Jones, 1994, p. 159). “Walkin’ After Midnight” music was written by Alan Block and the lyrics were written by Don Hecht ("Walkin' After Midnight." Second Hand Songs - A Cover Songs Database.).…

I chose the song "Break Up In A Small Town" because it accurately describes my life. About 6 months ago, my boyfriend and I broke up. Once we broke up I started talking to one of his friends, but not out of spite. We seemed very compatible and liked each other very much. I actually started listening to this song during the mess, and told everyone that the song described my life perfectly.…

Listening to the selections I found they all generally appeal to me though others have more of an immediate preference than others. A genuine love for music creates an appreciation for all genres. One can respect or acknowledge the environment from which it was produced, its purpose, and the skill of the musician(s). I particularly became fond of The Andrew Sisters after experiencing the song “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”. I recall hearing it from a television commercial vaguely, but it was a completely new thing to see and hear them perform it.…

“Made in America” I have always loved music; it is my pastime. After listening to music for as long as I have, I realized that some of the songs I listen to resemble me in different ways. However, there is one song that I find to shape me and the way I live my life. One song that demonstrates my strong work ethic, my pride to live in America, and how I am proud of my dad is Toby Keith’s song “Made in America.” No matter what kind of work I am doing I always work hard and strive to be the best.…

In ‘Respect’ there are many different musical lines that bring together the piece. In the intro of the song it is just the brass, guitar, and drums playing for four measures until Aretha Franklin starts singing. The back-up singers and the piano’s entrance is about a half of a beat after Aretha’s entrance. At this point all of the instruments are in full swing. The brass has a solo about half way through the song; the saxophone having the melody and the trombone and trumpets playing the harmony.…

Something that has meaning, and powered me is this one song called “Hooyo” by Somalia. The word “hooyo” comes from Somali root word meaning “Mother.” This song talked a lot about this girl life and the things that she been through during her childhood, and the things that she overcome especially all the trials and challenges with the help of her mom. She also talks about how her mom been there for her from the start and how she do not want anything to mess up her relationship with her. She mentions the separation between the father and the family, and she never knew the reason why he left them, when she was young but when she became older and mature she finally understood the reason.…

Although, he also comments on the ups and downs of their relationship because of her frequent leaving. This is relatable to IV., because the poet’s significant other leaves and he expresses his anger towards her independency. While reading IV, I felt that the song needed to be upbeat yet lyrically gloomy because the mood was freeing but had a disconsolate. This matches Oxygen’s rhythm and accusing lyrics. I chose Real Love for Fourth or Fifth Love because I felt that it fits the poem almost perfectly.…

One of my favorite songs is Vienna, by Billy Joel. I like the message of slow down, you have your whole life. After the second verse there is an interesting accordion solo. The piano runs going down keeps it interesting while still building anticipation for the second line of the chorus. The short rests make the rhythm interesting.…

I chose The Crow and the butterfly by Shinedown. I feel like this song speaks to me in an emotional way, and i’m sure people can relate. This song is about how a mother lost her son and she’s trying to get over it, but it’s hard when you lost something so important to you and you don’t know how to live without that person in your life. But she tries to get over it by changing his room and moving stuff and trying to find a happy place. When you listen to the actual lyrics to the song you would hear “I never thought you’d slip away.”…

Furthermore, I believe this song can help represent me due to the fact that I still think about others when I have an insignificant problem. I live in Canada, an affluent, developed, and free country, unlike other individuals who are required to live in war torn, and poverty-stricken countries, who tend to be much less fortunate. There are third world problems that billions of people face, but then there are first world problems that people in North America face, including me, like losing a pair of headphones. There is a drastic difference regarding the importance of the two adversities. Jackson wants individuals that are blessed to live in a developed country, to assist those that are struggling, such as children in an African country.…
