Criminal Justice Career Paper

No one is above the law. Not a politician, not a priest, not a criminal, not a police officer. We are all accountable for our actions. The world we live in is a cruel and corrupt place and unfortunately we as humans cannot change that no matter what laws we set, no matter how many people are brought to justice, no matter how hard we try to make this world a “better place” there will always be crime. But I do believe we can control it. The career of Criminal Justice is an interesting and exciting career, because of the experiences and opportunities it offers. The research will describe the career of Criminal Justice, what is required to become a successful law enforcer, and the impact this career has on society. The general duties of a law enforcer/police officer include patrolling designated areas whether it be on foot, motorcycle, or in a radio cruiser. Answering calls and complaints involving fire, automobile accidents, robberies and other misdemeanors and felonies. At scenes of crimes administers first aid, conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, obtain witnesses, and make arrests. Law enforcement officers also interview persons with complaints and inquiries and attempt to make the proper decision or direct them to proper authorities. They offer a wide variety of training, special assignment, and professional advancement opportunities. Training continues after the academy. After a position as a police officer it is not a bad idea to look into the detective field. Many patrol officers go into this field after years of working as a police officer. Or after serving as a supervisor another career advancement opportunity would be the position of police sergeant.
