Exploring My Positivity Ratio

Improved Essays
I learned a lot about my positivity over the past two weeks of recording my data. My average from the past two weeks was .82 which is not a good ratio. My average negativity score was 2.7, and my average score positivity was 2.3. My best positivity ratio was 6 and this will be the day I reconstruct and find out where I am most positive. In these past two weeks I had several exams and some quizzes which could be why ratio was so low. I was overwhelmed with stressed the first week I was collecting my data. I had exams that I had to study for and I know that brought down my positive data and increased my negativity. Due to how much time I spent in the library, I was not able to hang out with friends which might have lowered my ratio. I also had not spent time with my family for two weeks, and that could have lowered my ratio score too. …show more content…
It is not healthy to have a score below three. I think I can increase my ratio by listening to more country music because I think that lifts my spirits and helps me to relax. In general, I think I need to shift my thinking to more positive thoughts instead of the constant negative thoughts. Mentor Interview My mentor for this assignment was, John Brunning from the Lethbridge police service (LPS). He came to the college to answer any questions we had regarding the 7 dimensions of wellness, such as what John does to balance his work and personal life, how he gets over stress from his work life, what he does to stay in shape, some challenges he has overcome, what he does to get along with people in the workplace, as well as how important it is to trust your partner. He has been working for the agency for 5 years now, and he is now working in the traffic section. I chose to interview John because he has had several years of experience in the field of public safety.…

The first day of English 101 I was unsure what to expect. As a running start student, college was foreign and daunting. For the class variable, I measured the number of emails I sent vs how many I receive. I decided to measure my school email instead of my personal email because I send more emails on my school email than personal email. One of my personal variables, I collected data on how many hours I listen to music at home vs. school. I counted this variable by having a stopwatch start as soon as the song started. I would pause the stopwatch when I press pause on the song at the end of the day or when school is over.…

I’M sat at a wooden desk answering multiple choice questions with a pencil, occasionally erasing my answers and colouring in a different circle. After completing lab 4a questions on the Heart Disease Risk Factor Questionnaire I totaled a score of 22. Having history of heart disease in my family on my mother side was one of the ones I I got high risk points on. Another one I got high risk point on was regular physical activity. I need to put more effort into exercising. "Regular exercise can help prevent heart disease and stroke by strengthening you muscle, lowering your blood pressure, raising your high -density lipoprotein(HDL) levels (good cholesterol) an lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels (bad cholesterol), improving blood flow, and increasing your heart's work capacity."(Davis 2017)…

The health assessment shows that I am healthy and aware of the importance of my behaviors, so I think I need to keep it up. For physical health, I engage in jogging every day for about an hour, 30 minutes after lunch and 30 minutes after dinner. I always check the clock before I sleep and I give myself 9 hours 30 minutes total on the bed. 30 to 45 minutes for relaxing and about 10-15 minutes for myself to ponder and recognize what to do in a day when I get up.…

Psychology so far hasn’t been too bad so far during the semester. I thought at the beginning this class would most likely have been by far one of the most challenging classes I have taken coming from have taken only some AP courses and Honors classes during high school. Currently I am sitting at an 93.1% (270/290 points) in the class, which isn’t what I want to be at which is at least a 95%, but I can build on that and improve my scores throughout the semester. Coming into the class, I looked at the point breakdown from the syllabus and calculated mentally what I would need to get in each category to maintain an A, but also have an A by when the final comes so I wouldn’t have to take the final exam. Ultimately that is my goal for this course,…
