Q. How long has Explorer Industries been in business?

A. Explorer was established by co-founders Robert Tyler and Marcy Voelbrecht in 1990 after they bonded over a common interest: the great outdoors. Since then, the firm has grown to be recognized as one of the most innovative and entrepreneurial companies in the US and reported $550 million in sales back in 2016. Its corporate office resides in Denver, Colorado, and has 67 retail locations spread throughout various metropolitan markets in the US that employ over 1,200 individuals.

Explorer began its expansion progress in mid-2017. During the next two years, it will establish 21 retail stores throughout five major Canadian Provinces (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Ontario). After successful Canadian integration, Explorer Industries will develop retail stores in other international markets. The implementation process is expected to take five years with funds supporting new product research and development; marketing and advertising objectives; and distribution strategies for Explorer Industries.

Q. Will there be language accommodations at retail stores or online?

A. Yes. Explorer will accommodate English and French speakers in all retail stores for product information and price. Since the Canadian expansion, Explorer has also updated its website to incorporate many language translations, including French, Danish and German. Eventually, Explorer plans to extend its online brand to integrate more than12 languages.

Q. Does Explorer Industries have future plans to expand into any other countries?

A. Explore projects investing $117 million over the next five years to expand into new international markets. The company intends to build its brand in parts of Canada, Europe and South America.
