Exploratory Play Analysis

Improved Essays
I should focus on the process (rather than the goal) of play. Ask exploratory questions that help extend the child’s play. According to Basford. J.(2008),”It is essential to make sure that the quality of the children’s experience is not gained and maintained at the expense of your sanity!”(p.96). It is an (skilful) adult’s responsibility to supervise the children at all time as you cannot leave them alone at any circumstance. Your sight should be individually set on what they are doing. I admit that it is not easy to adapt such measures during the play time but as a teacher I should be aware of any possible unnecessary harm. It would be easier to stand in a position where you can observe children during play.

Play opportunities of any description should be appropriate to the age of the child. While children will find their own level of play, it is particularly important to provide relevant materials to support physical play. Because four to six years old children are more interested in creating things, e.g. making a cake, drawing cards and planting seeds. Children enjoy being with other children although they may play in pairs.…

In this article, we will examine the different viewpoints of the term " play" and critically evaluate the claims and reasons written by the author in the article , " Reclaiming the power of play" To begin with, in paragraph two of the article, the author states that " play is simply rest or downtime for the otherwise industrious soul". “Play refers to an activity that is predominantly pleasurable” (Veiga, Neto, & Rieffe, 2016, p.2). It provides opportunities for a child to learn about the surroundings. If a child is taking part in the play actively, it may result in more effective learning. In the early childhood education, ‘child-centered’ is important for teaching and children’s learning and development.
