In general, it appears that most companies have a ‘brand’ or ‘image’ associated with their products or goods. Companies employee marketing teams, test groups, researchers and social media gurus to define and target their main consumer group(s). The adage that ‘sex sales’ has been a marketing ploy for many years. To date, Pearl Tobacco was the first to use sex in advertising. An image of a nude lady was an advertisement on a package of tobacco. (Sexuality in advertisement) Do I think, a for-profit company has the right to maintain an appearance standard as a condition of employment? Yes, I do. However, I do not, under any circumstance condone exploitation of any gender, race or disability in any form. Does Cassie Smith look as if she too fat for this position? Looking fat is relative to the person being asked. For example, I recently had a medical appointment, when weighed, I said, “I know, I am trying to work on my weight.” My …show more content…
I detest anything that makes anyone feel inferior for any reason. The complete exploitation of women’s boobs and asses is a complete disgrace to women and continues to be a struggle for women to overcome. However, women that thrive on the attention, feed the machine of sexism in the market place. My personal experience with trying to have lunch there many years ago, made me so uncomfortable, I couldn’t even eat the food. I don’t want anyone’s body parts hanging out around me. Why did I go? I was a professional dancer at the time with a beautiful body, it was a meal break during a rehearsal, Hooters was on the same block as the studio, so we went there for time convenience. I thought it wouldn’t bother me, however, it did immensely. Hooters is what it is. Its a tits and ass eatery, with a ‘sex sales’ marketing strategy to attract customers who want an excuse to see women’s boobs when they serve them and their asses when they walk away or bend
