Explain Why There Is More Satisfaction Than Playing The Clarinet

Nothing gives me more satisfaction than playing the clarinet; Evan hearing it gives my pleasure. I have been involved in a performance where you play jazz at heritage landing. At age 12 I realized that I belonged in front of an audience. I started to give demonstrations to younger kids to help out Mrs.Lawrence (My former band teacher and friend). My Friends and I have had fun doing such a thing. It was 7th grade for me and I was offered to play a part in the Muskegon Jazz band. Mrs. Lawrence had me playing bass clarinet for concert band. I could also play clarinet, however she had me play the Baritone Saxophone. I loved the sound of the clarinet; it gave me this warm feeling in my stomach, but when I played Barry saxophone it made me even happier. We played in the spring. The weather was very nice that night. You could smell the grass and feel that their was a lot of love their. Hairitage Landing was the perfect place to have the event. The bridge that crossed the small pound, that enters Lake Michigan was lit up with lamps. It was like a something from a movie.
Well, we were getting ready to play Mrs.Lawrence got us all into a group and asked us “who wants a solo?”. Only 5 people raised their hand and she needed

I really do wish that I had miss Lawrence as a band teacher now I feel like she would motivate me. I don't even do band now I moved schools in 8th grade and I never felt the same about band.

Moving to Oakridge was a life changing experience for me. The teachers that I have now are not as active with the students as the ones at Muskegon however they are nicer the students are nice to. The band on the other hand I believe is a well instructed band but with Mrs.Lawrence it could be better. I quit band because I felt like their was to much favoritism played. Truly I just acted like I liked it at Oakridge for one year. But I felt that it was a game. A game that you can't win because the teacher is on the winning

Walking on to the Lucas Oil turf as a Carmel Marching Greyhound for awards at Grand National finals after an exhilarating performance of “What a Tangled Web We Weave” was a feeling of pure accomplishment. As a sophomore, I had done this once before, but this time was different. The whole band knew we were in the running for the national title. Avon and Broken Arrow were our biggest competitors. Earlier in the season we won ISSMA state, so coming into nationals we knew we had a pretty good chance of being exceptionally good.…

If I have not challenged myself to practice and to confront challenges, I could not have become the principal player in our school’s jazz band and wind ensemble. After several breakthroughs, I decided to share my inspirations to the younger generation. This year, I am one of the coordinators of the Molding Musicians program supported by the Cypress Boys and Girls Club, teaching the fifth and sixth graders how to play an instrument. I appreciate the fact that my achievements did not come from an easy work, but rather a persistent standing against…

Ever since I joined band in 4th grade, people have been talking about how excited they were to join marching band. At band day in 5th and 6th grade, everyone else shared how they couldn't wait until they were a 9th grader and could finally be able to perform and play in the stands like we saw the marching band do many times. In 7th and 8th grade, we had a watered down version of marching band that only played two parades. While I was glad to get snare drum both years, the exhilaration was never there, and I came very close to not joining marching band. But against my will, I ended up auditioning for drumline in April and I got the cymbals.…

From middle school to high school, band became a vital part of my life. It was all I knew, it was where I felt comfortable, and this was where I pratically began learning about my leadership skills. However, my curiousity grew when I was introduced to Class Council. I thought that there was no difference, and I naively thought that since I have been a part of a leadership role for about 4 years, everyone knows me, so I thought Class Council could not be so hard. I was terribly wrong.…

A lot of things can contribute to a successful music program, but one of the central points of success comes from support from a school system’s administration. This success doesn't come from the monetary support but rather, patience to allow the band director to work. When band directors are rushed to achieve certain goals, they tend to cut corners and not build proper fundamentals. In an extended time period, this could ruin a band program and cause numbers, quality of players, and parental support to lower throughout the years. An administration should thoroughly be involved with a director’s program, but an ideal situation would allow the director to take the time to mold the students into the type of people and musicians that can be successful…
