Imagine this: You are an orca, stuck captive. An unknown creature is touching you and you are depressed and stuck. How would you feel about that? I know that I would not like that, so why would the orcas? I believe orcas should be free and out of captivity and they deserve to be treated fairly. In the wild, orcas can swim and move around freely, but in captivity they are trapped in tiny tanks. Studies show that orcas get depressed when held hostage in tanks. Depression may cause orcas to lose their temper and act out. Finally, dental damage is commonly observed in captive orcas. Do you really want to let the orcas suffer like this?

The first reason orcas should be let out of captivity is because in captivity, they are stuck in small cages. Why trap them in tiny cages so they can swim around with other orcas and be free? In the wild, orcas can swim up to 100 miles every day. Also, orcas are highly social animals and research shows most orcas do not even have one other orca to live with. An orca named Tokitae lived a very rough life because of the small size of her tank. Tokitae was the smallest orca in Miami Seaquarium, and she still did not have much room. Her tank

Orcas suffer from lots of dental problems and tooth damage. Research proves that many scientists have commonly observed dental damage in captive orcas. Sixty-one percent of the orcas who were studied had endured a “modified pulpotomy,” which is a hole drilled into the tooth and the soft pulpy tissue inside is removed to prevent a deadly abscess forming in the jaw. Trainers, John Jett, and Jeff Ventre, examined photos of the orcas’ jaws and teeth. They figured out that when orcas get bored in captivity, they might chew on stuff. The only thing around the orcas is a concrete wall, so when they chew on the wall, their teeth get damaged.
