To begin, plastic and especially plastic bags are harmful to wildlife and are destroying their natural habitats. Plastic pollution has a direct and fatal effect on wildlife. Thousands of marine animals each year are killed by plastic pollution including: seabirds, sea turtles, seals, whales and many more animals. If one looks at the big picture, if supermarkets discontinue to keep plastic bags in stock, and resort to forcing customers to buy their own reusable bags, to take on every grocery trip. Or else they won't have any bags to carry their groceries in, no one will be fighting over a 25 cent per plastic bag fee. Also, employees of supermarkets do not have to enforce any fee and don't have to labor any more than they have already. Yes, this may cause the poor to spend an extra few dollars to buy some reusable bags.Though, this small gesture will save our wildlife, environment and humanity.
