Studies have shown that ninety nine percent of students like having a small break during school. When you get to sixth grade in most schools you do not get a break anymore. The only break you get is lunch and students get split up so they still don't get to see their friends. I think that students should get to go out side and have a break to talk to friends, clear their minds, and exercise to stay healthy. My first reason is that students should be allowed to get a break to talk to friends. Students should get a break to talk to friends. as stated by susan meyer a middle school principal. ("Education World").This is important to notice because without a break kids won't have time to think of what they learn before moving on. Recess time can also be productive. Kids can even use resses to be productive by visiting teachers for help or even getting books from the library ("Education World").The part of this that seems especially important is that if a kid is behind they can privately talk to the teacher. There is even research that shows that recess is beneficial.…

It would also serve to lessen the gap between students and teachers. A point of contention between the two has always been the freedoms allocated to teachers. While it is understood that teachers will always have more freedom, students want what is arguably the most attainable one: the ability to leave campus for their lunch period. It seems hypocritical at best to allow teachers, most of whom also have ‘active’ periods after lunch, to leave without doubting their ability to return in…

Despite overwhelming evidence that periods of unstructured play and social interaction are a crucial part of children’s cognitive, academic, physical and mental wellness, schools continue to take away recess privileges as a penalty for academic or behavioral transgressions. I’ve done it, many times. When students fail to hand in assignments or when a child acts up in class, I’ve taken their recess privileges hostage. I did it both as a way of punishing for bad behavior or as a way to carve out a few extra minutes of learning time in an otherwise packed day.…

Sometimes as a student is completing the school year they become tired, and slowly begin to stop going to school. By having a long break every few months it gives a student a goal that they can achieve. It also allows families to take vacations without interfering with their kid’s school schedules. By having two to three week break it gives families enough time to take vacations and still give the student an efficient amount of time to be prepared for school.…

First, students' rights to free speech should be limited in schools. Students should be able to have freedom of speech but there has to be a line drawn at some point. The extent should be limited to being able to wear symbolic clothing and similar stuff like that. The freedom of speech should not be to the point to where there is long drawn out speeches in school and/or short speeches such as talking in class about it or talking in the hallway. " But, even with First Amendment protection guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, there are limits in the school setting.…

In the hand book under bathroom use it says, “ Students are encouraged to use the bathroom facilities before school hours and to ask before the tardy bell rings between classes.” Teachers aspect kids to get their things for that class, go to the bathroom, and make it to their next class in just three minutes. For one sometimes there is a line to go to the bathroom and some classes are a ways away. The average person has to go to the bathroom 4-10 times a day, and teachers think we can hold it all day. I think the rule should be changed to at least two passes for the whole day.…

“Inactivity is associated with the tripling of childhood obesity since 1970” (Jarret). Recess could dramatically curb that number much lower then that of previous years. Since technology is taking over, most children spend the majority of their free time at home playing video games, watching television, or searching the web. Fifteen to twenty minutes of physical activity a day is all that most children need to stay physically fit and healthy. If not, the lack of physical activity could prove detrimental, and the childhood obesity rate could be, once again, on the rise.…

Imagine a world where all the children actually used their electronic devices for educational purposes. The kid runs home from school like a track runner in the Olympics and picks up his or her iPad and proceeds to play educational math or reading games. That scenario sounds great, but is not something you hear of a child doing on a regular basis which is why that will never happen. Some may argue that the parents should monitor if the child is actually using it for learning purposes, while others may say the child should be able to play whatever games they want since the schools make them use the computers for educational purposes only. Honestly, no matter how many learning programs and games are made children will never spend their time engaging in those activities all day.…

The one school rule that should be changed is the most ridiculous rule that there is no hugging. This rule is beyond ludicrous, A middle school in Canada was in the news recently for their “no loving, no shoving” policy, which is intended to prevent violence and sexual contact. Schools in Arizona, New Jersey and elsewhere have attempted to implement similar no-touch initiatives.(Lawrence J. Cohen and Anthony T. DeBenedet, M.D.)It’s completely insane that people on school premises shouldn’t hug on or around school grounds. The are absolutely tons of reasons why PDA shouldn’t be banned from schools like, it would cause children to depressed of their emotional side, it won’t let kids have any friends in school, but it does help in one way by helping with unnecessary distractions . In many people’s terms of reason they think it will affect their education, this essay will show disagreements.(Fictional_truths1)…
