They are quietly talking, while some finish homework. They leave the cafeteria in an orderly fashion and head directly to their classrooms to start the school day. Students begin to have inappropriate behaviors when entering the cafeteria for lunch. Students are observed pushing and shoving in the serving line and when finding places to sit. Students are also observed talking loudly or shouting at others and wandering from table to table talking to other students rather than eating their lunches.…

They only can eat what is there in their school. Some campuses do not have lunches and only have vending machines. So what good does that food do to them? Others have only one meal a day which involves eating from the vending machines.…

Many people debate whether or not schools should have school lunches or not have school lunches and only packed lunches. It’s a good idea for schools to provide lunches for students because it saves time and money for parents. It also helps students make smarter decisions about the things they eat. Therefore, schools should be responsible in providing students healthy and delicious lunches. First off, schools should provide lunches because it is easier for parents to save time and money.…

Whether they are competing on the field or in the classroom, students work hard. However it is hard for them to do their best on an empty stomach. An Indian Land student’s tray at lunch typically features one fruit, one vegetable, a large portion of French fries, and a reasonable amount of the main food item of the day. Students find themselves starving as soon as they get home from school because they are not getting enough nutrients at lunch to keep them going. Students are able to grab more food but must pay extra for this.…

Years ago, the Clearwater site allowed their students to either walk or bike to a certain destination over the lunch hour for food, known as open campus. The last time this was available was my 7th grade year. Nowadays, school lunches are lacking. As high school students, we are always running and gunning and burning endless amounts of energy. When school lunch comes around, us students have a large appetite.…

School offers memories to be made, both good and bad, but the worst of them all is the lunch that is served. During the Obama administration, healthy alternatives to “junk” food were implemented into schools. Since then, “unhealthy” foods and large food portions have been eliminated. Some see this as a pro rather than a con, but athletes say otherwise. Healthy food choices and small portion sizes that American schools offer are unfair to athletes because they require more calories than the average person.…

Argument Paper II The quality of school lunches has been a debated topic throughout this past decade. While some are advocating for healthier lunch options for students, others would prefer that lunch options stay fairly the same to offer a more diverse selection of foods. The opinion article “Healthy School Lunches Under Attack: Our View” written in 2015 by USA Today is a prime example of those in favor of healthier school lunches, and on the opposing side, “Provide Flexibility in the Lunchroom: Opposing View” written by the president of the School Nutrition Association Jean Ronnei in 2015, is an article discussing the possibility of school lunch mandates going too far. The articles provide interesting points on both sides of the argument, however, after reading both articles…

As an example, it seemed like a good idea to require students to choose either a fruit or vegetable, but time has shown that the requirement does not correspond with consumption but rather with higher food waste (Cha). While this may in part be the fault of the small window of time given to students, that argument is rejected by the reality that the majority of wasted food is thrown away untasted and untouched. If children get in the habit of throwing away healthy food without trying them at school, they're bound to do the same at…

I don't think that the toy in kid's meal is the link to unhealthy eating and childhood/adult obesity. I feel there are many factors involved in the reason for obesity, but I don't believe that the banning of toys in kid's meals is the answer. I feel that would be an overstepping of the government to act as the "fast food police. " I think the public could create a demand for healthier kid's meal from these businesses if it was truly something that the public wanted. If the public didn't purchase these meals, then the companies would look to create other healthier meals that the public demanded.…

One student says “Usually we go to the student store and I'll buy a bag of Cheetos...or like chips, sometimes a Gatorade, yeah" when asked what they will do when the school lunch doesn’t fill them up enough. This is a problem that is hard to deal with, because having bags of snacks that students can munch on sort of goes back on the whole idea of “healthy lunches” and has the student spending money on top of their bought lunch just to get filled up for the rest of the day. Giving students a healthy option is ideal, but having them eat something that tastes bad and won’t even fill them up doesn’t seem right. There are some arguments that some people can make as to why healthy school lunches are extremely important and why they mustn’t change.…

Everyone has time to be healthy Freshman 15 is an expression used to describe an arbitrary amount of weight students put on in their first year of post secondary studies, usually due to unhealthy eating and poor exercise habits. Students say they struggle finding a balance between work, leisure, and maintaining healthy habits, leading to a lack of exercise, and poor nutrition. These complaints are clearly caused by a lack of intrinsic motivation and a growing status quo of complacency, rather than actual time constraints. Despite the vast number of home workouts that one can complete in under ten minutes, students will still excuse themselves from any form of physical activity, in favour of inactive alternatives. The problem is further pushed…
