Explain Why Smoking Should Be Banned In The Workplace

Decent Essays
Smoking should be banned in the workplace inside and out. Reason being is it gives the work place a cleaner environment to work in, especially if it involves food or places with flamable liquids or gases. It will ensure that the work place is safe and clean as smoking in and outside the workplace will make the work place unclean and smell of nicotine.
If smoking was not banned, it will cause fires or explosions where there is flammable liquids or gases, and will contaminate food from the smell from the nicotine and there will be complaints from people that don't like the smell of it and people will probably not dispose cigerette butts properley causing the workplace floor looking unclean and will be a slipping hazard on the floor and the ash

Nonsmokers should also have the choice whether they want to breathe it or not. Work…

A lot of cigarette representatives will argue that there is no harm in smoking, especially to the individuals who aren’t behind, “the puff.” Sadly both those statements aren’t true, did you know that over 1075 smokers and 137 second hand smokers die from smoke related deaths every day. Most of these deaths are provided by the 69 different animal and human carcinogens implanted in cigarettes every day. Carcinogens are substances that are capable of causing cancer in living tissue. Choice is the main factor here, by choosing not to smoke a person should not have to be subject to something they don't want. In a work environment this should not be any different. under Sec,21 of the Occupational health and safety (OHS) act 2004, "Employers have a duty to provide a working environment that, so far as is reasonably practical, is safe and with out risks…

I think that smoking should be banned in the workplace, inside and out because of many reasons such as, smoking and second hand smoke is extremely unhealthy for men, women and especially children. Every employer is obliged to protect the health of staff, customers, residents and visitors to their premises. In the case of exempted buildings only, this means that employers can, if they wish, designate certain areas of their premises as 'smoking' or 'non-smoking' in order to minimize risk.…

Many people disagree with the above statement, but personally I agree that smoking should be banned in and around workplaces, why you may ask? Its unhealthy, unprofessional and smoking causes many health problems. My first reason to back this issue up is since 1964 approximately 2,500,000 non smokers have died from health problems caused by exposure to second hand smoke, so that means other employees who are non-smokers have to suffer. There are also many other health problems caused by second hand smoke such as; heart disease, lung cancer and strokes.…

SMOKING SHOULD BE BANNED INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE WORKPLACE Second hand smoke causes nearly 50,000 deaths each year alone in the United States of America, 30 percent of cancers could actually be prevented by avoiding smoking. 8.6 million people in the USA have a serious illness caused by smoking, and even more alarming the Chinese smoking population is higher than the entire population of the United States. Now that you have heard some statistics I am sure it is evident that there are no positives or benefits for people that smoke. Over the last 15 years the health concerns regarding smokers and those who inhale the second hand smoke has become prominent, however, along with being a health hazard smoking also is an extremely anti-social activity, can cause inefficiencies within a workplace and can at time spread a bad odor around the workplace. Within this piece of text I will be discussing this fact further and why I believe that it should be banned within all workplaces in Australia. In today’s age smoking is becoming less and less accepted those who no longer smoke or have no intension of doing so. These kids much like myself who have grown up in an age of heavy campaigning by the government regarding the health concerns in smoking have pushed the number of smokers…

If I were Marcia I would vote for the law to be implemented since it wouldn't do any harm to people and smokers will be able to use an area set aside for tobacco users. In my opinion, I think a state should be allowed to regulate where smokers smoke because the state believes that the public is at risk for health problems due to second-hand smoking (Clune). The Public health officials have argued that the bans are implemented to "eliminate dangers" from secondhand, or “sidestream smoke,” which will reduce the environmental impact of cigarette butts and keep the young away from picking up bad habits they see in public (Clune). Many bars do suffer from the smoking ban and have filed lawsuits against the ban, I do believe businesses should have…
