Schools that switch to a four-day school week can lead to many problems for students, such as finding a place to go on the day off. School teachers who work in a four-day school make around $10,000 less than teachers who work in a five-day school. Schools that switched to the four-day school week lost hundreds of students, however, schools that have five-day school weeks remain with their students. Adding an extra hour to a four-day school week could give students academic burnout. Schools should not switch to a four-day school week because it would cost families extra money for childcare, test scores have decreased, and some students would not receive good meals until Monday.
