I believe that our school year should not be 12 months long for a couple of reasons. The students and the staff will not be able to take a break, students won't be able to go to summer school to bump up their mark and lastly students and teachers will not have time to spend with family and friends.

Firstly, the students and staff will not be able to take a break from school. I believe that students should get a break from school because many students across Canada stress about due dates, presentations and projects. I know this because I have stressed about my tests, projects and other work for schools. Mental stress affects students in a negative way, so when students have a time period where they don't stress it will benefit the students to relax. Also the teachers deserve a break from teaching as well because the teachers helps students who are struggling, they also deal with rude students and plan lessons for class and do more for the education of the students. …show more content…
Students who want to bump up their marks in their courses wouldn't have summer school to bump up their grades. A study that was conducted proves that summer school does in fact help students academically and socially and also reduces the rate of high schoolers dropping out of highschool. Without having summer school many students who have failed a course will have to redo the course they failed in their next grade. Summer school also creates job opportunities for teachers and educators, who want to earn more money in the summer or get experience teaching
