When we throw away plastic bags, they go to landfills. Plastic can not decompose so it sits in those landfills for thousands of years. It eventually breaks down, but it never breaks down completely. Sometimes when plastic is being taken to the landfills, the bags fly out of the garbage trucks and ends up in the ocean or somewhere where animals can choke on it.
