A high school diploma is usually required to enter a formal emergency medical technician training program. Training is offered at progressive levels: EMT- Basic, EMT- Intermediate and EMT- Paramedic ( Paragraph 9, Overview EMT Paramedic 2). According to Overview EMT Paramedic. Paramedics should be paid more because they are going onto further education after high school onto EMT- Basic, EMT- Intermediate and EMT- Paramedic in order to become a fully trained Paramedic. Another reason is paramedics must complete postsecondary educational program. All states require EMTs and paramedics to be licensed; requirements vary by state ( Paragraph 19, Emergency Medical Technician 2). This quote shows that paramedics should be paid more because, they have to go above and beyond for education to be able to get licensed as a paramedic. In Order to be licensed they have to fulfill all the requirements form the state. Last reason is Paramedics require a broad set of skills; interpersonal,medical, and technical skills, as well as the crucial skill or performing under pressure (Paragraph 3, Hayden 1). In other words, Paramedics do a lot to learn about all the skills and requirements they need to have. Because they have to learn so many skills and have a big range of skills.
