Getting a job outside of the military will be one of my biggest stepping stones because of things that employers are looking for. Employers are looking for people that are going to be able to pay attention and with that comes time management and being able to prioritize, along with that they are also looking for people that have more than college and that just means they want someone with a higher degree than a bachelors degree. (unknown, The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language 5th Edition, 2016) During the recent United States Presidential election, the gaps between these generations became evident. However, i am not entirely clear on the terminology Fromm is using, both in regard to ‘humility’ and to ‘objectivity.’ As i understand it, Fromm’s conception of objectivity is more like trying to see the world without a particular/specific point of view. Is this correct—it’s not ‘stepping into someone else’s shoes,’ but rather putting on an ‘ideal form’ of Shoes? Is humility, then, stepping into a specific ‘someone else’s’ shoes? Fromm’s definition of humility entails being able to recognise that “I” am not the centre of the universe; wouldn’t that make humility, rather than objectivity, the opposite of narcissism?…

What matters to me... Something that matters to me is that people need know who people really are before they judge others. This means that people judge people too quickly and don’t get to know them. They think that people are weird or stupid without getting to see who their true personality is, this is because of looks and speech. Some other reasons are that people judge people is that if you see someone with tattoos and who is a guy and wears all black, some people are quick to judge that that person is a bad person. An example is that my youth group leaders brother was sitting in church and he had tattoos and piercings and some snotty rich people moved away from him just because of this.…

When I was at home doing schoolwork, I was never super motivated to do my schoolwork, which isn 't really abnormal for a kid. I would always only do the least amount of work possible for me to get by. I mean, what kid wouldn 't want to do the least possible, to have more time to play or hangout with friends? My parent’s philosophy in educating all of my siblings, myself included, was to help us find what we really enjoyed doing, and what we were naturally drawn towards and then help us focus in on those things. In theory that teaching philosophy isn’t necessarily a bad thing.…
