Combat Readiness is defined as the ability of U.S military forces to fight and meet the demands of the national military strategy. This is the most important factor to our soldiers, me included. To fight effectively we must be manned, equipped and trained to operate under war conditions. For me to be combat ready, I have to be fully in sync with my training, and my equipment. My equipment is useless without me being properly trained on how to operate and employ it. However if I am not correctly using my equipment it can fail my proficiency at my training. Failure to create the balance among these three areas, it will degrade my potential to be an essential part of my team. This can lead to setbacks, and worst yet, the loss off life to me or my commerades. History has shown, when we don’t thinl a tragic event is going to happen. We have paid a high price for it. And when I was saying that “I am not going to rune from the enemy, I don’t need any back plates,” I wasn’t anticipating that anyone would come from behind. Has restrictions to be met because I have to remain combat ready. I have a curfew between 01-05, to be in my quarters because we are in a hostile environment and my superiors want to make sure I am able to “fight tonight.” Although I don’t want to have a curfew I know it is important because our enemy can strike at any time. Also we PT everyday while we are here because our superiors want us soldiers to be physically fit. This is a main role in troops because it keeps us in shape. If we werent physically fit we would be putting our combat readiness at risk. As a matter of fact, a soldiers level of physical fitness has a direct correlation to his combat readiness.
