Explain Why I Want To Be A CPA

Decent Essays
I want to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to achieve my academic goal. Being a CPA will help me to support my family, and at the same time to help others. Also, I am a first generation college student, and I want to show my parents and siblings that nothing is impossible in this world. Additionally, I know accounting is my passion, and being a CPA is one of my top life priorities, and I am happy trying to make my passion my job. After all, I am only two years away from achieving my goal and I have realized that the road is not easy, and I have learned that life has ups and downs (happiness and sorrow), but I refuse to give up! I refuse to lose hope, and I refuse to let the sensation of despair ruins me. I also know what I want to

Personal statement The year 2004 marked a time in my family’s history in which we took a substantial step forward by coming to the United States. Before that, we lived through and experienced a lot of unspeakable things. Originating in Somalia, my parents understood that it was a place where nothing could be achieved. Civil war broke out, devastating hundreds upon thousands of lives, including several of my family members. Corruption infected the government, military, and all forms of law enforcement.…

Over 15 years ago, Robert Nash (2011) developed a new academic writing style called Scholarly Personal Narrative (SPN). For the first time in academics the unacceptable use of the ‘subjective I [me]’was acceptable in scholarly writing. Before SPN only the ‘objective they [we]’ was appropriate for research because scholars believed that only experts could support an agreeable or disagreeable topic. Nash (2011) wanted SPN to become, “a respectable research genre in higher education, particularly in the professional schools” (p. 4), so he wrote his first book, Liberating Scholarly Writing: The Power of Personal Narrative (2004).…

The main reason why I think that HACC is the best choice for me is because of the cost. The rates per credit are around $250 and that is for in-state residents. The total cost for a commuter would be around $13,750 for a student who is full time, which means they are taking 12 credits per term (Stager). This price of $13,750 includes the price of books, supplies, food, and transportation and it is an average price for all HACC students (HACC.edu). I think that I could easily cut some of the cost by trying to buy my books online for a cheaper price or even eating at home to save a lot of money.…

I have always been someone to never give up. I believe a lot of it has to do with being in the military and the way I had to work growing up. I also did not let failure get the best of me. I have heard people say that insanity is trying the same thing over and over with the same results, but what if you try each attempt over and over using a different method each time? The most unsuccess I have ever felt was transferring from the military to civilian workplace.…

Everyone in my family from my parents to my cousins tell me to never give up when doing something in life, however it became clear when I came face to face with the legislative process of California in April 2014. I joined the nonprofit Safe Routes to School that same year and it was our mission to help pass SB-1151, an act proposed to increase fines in school and traffic zones, but these events started before the actual presentation before the state. The only things I remembered was just fear from just being invited with my colleagues to go to the Capitol, for preparation and the meeting, but I realized my commitment to the environment, safety, and the organization became the reason why I preserved for coming storm. The days before the actual…

“A lawyer is required to be talented and further a hard worker” Those were the very first words I was told by my father after I decided to become a lawyer, and those exact words have inspired me throughout my profession. My passion for law can be tracked back to my childhood, when I was seven years old as I saw my father for the first time in trial, standing for his client´s rights. The correctness and the pursuit of the truth held in that trial made me realize that there are not greater people rather than those who devote their time and lives in order to help those in need. I have always been a determined person, willing to give everything in order to accomplish my dreams. Ever since my second semester in law school I decided that I have…
