I am interested in going to Badger Girls State because this would be an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity and a privilege for me. My ancestors have always been involved in politics, from signing the Mayflower Compact, being written about in George Washington’s letters, fighting for women’s suffrage, and even now, voting, and voicing their opinions in the elections. I not only grew up learning about politics, but want to pursue a career as a political science teacher. I don’t believe my generation fully understands politics and how important it is for them to vote and get involved in politics. I want to change this in my own classroom.…

Why do I, Nadia Thomas, wish to be your SGA president? Honestly, because I want to make a change and leave a heavy impact on South Atlanta. When I was growing up, I was overly excited to go with my siblings to the local high school because no matter what time of day the student body was always excited and filled with adrenaline when it came to school spirit and education. Literally there was no mourning or moping kid in sight and the teachers had the spirit too. So when I entered high school already being known as the most hype freshman anyone had ever seen, I knew I had to leave my mark.…

I am a senior at Mercer Island High School and will be attending the University of Washington in the fall. I actively participate in our democracy by writing letters and even traveling to Washington DC to lobby to Representative Adam Smith. I am writing to you because I have noticed a lack of political efficacy in the country and strongly believe that students should have a fair chance to have their voices heard. When I learned about children poisoned by the leaded water in Flint Michigan due to their multimillion-dollar deficit, I was touched and immediately thought of what my family would do if we couldn’t use water from our plumbing. I am very lucky to be living in a place where we don’t have to worry much about our water, but our increasing…

Knowing specifically what you want in a president can benefit you immensely, filtering all the excess people that you don’t really need to worry about. For me some of the most important factors that I want in a president that I vote for is that they have to be very educated, show leadership skills, and be a very good cooperator especially when It comes to other countries. Should I be fortunate enough to be elected President of the Student Government Association of Frederick High, responsibilities as President will be second to none. Section 1, Article 7 of the FHS Constitution states that the President shall retain a status of an ex-offico member of all committees within our Government. This is where I'll work to deliver to the student of FHS more fun activities such as pep rallies and dances. Obviously, a pep rally every week or even every month is quite an unreasonable suggestion but, a more conservative goal of at least one a term does not seem like too much to ask. Furthermore, to improve the experience of the Students of FHS, I wish to incorporate more dances within the school year.…
