The future. It holds so many wonders and mysteries. No one will never know what will happen and that is the greatest thing about it. For myself, right now, the future is the most intriguing part about my life. However, it is not what defines me. It is the past. It is all the endless hours of work, sacrifices and commitment that has shaped me as an individual to prepare for the future. This is my story and why I should be chosen for this scholarship.

At a young age of 9 years old my father died from a heart attack. This was especially challenging for me and my 11 year old brother at the time. Having my mother be a single parent since has made an effect not only on our financial income, but an immense weight of stress on her shoulders to provide for our family by running her own candy making business. Throughout the years my brother and I have stepped up to make a successful family environment that my dad would be proud of. This scenery always makes me joyful to live here. The only thing better about seeing it on the ground is in the air. I grew up enjoying going on airplane rides to vacation destinations or to visit my grandparents in California. As I grew older and started to think about careers for my future I hadn’t ever pondered the idea of flying as a job. Finally, I job shadowed the owner of a small aircraft maintenance, repair and flying company and realized this is what I am going to do for my career. My plan to become a pilot starts with me getting a collegiate education. I plan to go to a community college for two years to get my AA and take flight training. From then I plan to finish school at a university to obtain my Bachelors degree. These plans are to prepare me for my future in the job
